Spiritual Goals

As we come to the close of 2018 and await the new-born year 2019 many will make New Year’s resolutions. Some will follow through with their resolutions while as much as eighty percent of our goals for the New Year fail. Many people decided not to make resolutions that become a distant memory.

It is not intended we be in constant behavior modification. The Bible explains that we should strive to change the condition of our hearts rather than our outward performance (Matthew 12:35). Continue reading “Spiritual Goals”

Fresh Start Solutions – Health

Whether it’s the start of a new year, a birthday, spiritual new beginning, or just the changing seasons, we humans tend to look for opportunities to wipe the proverbial slate clean and start again.

Deeper Application of Scripture

As we have seen in observation and interpretation leading up to the application of what the Bible explains to us about God’s desires for His children and His rules. It is not as simple as reading a book on the Civil War or a Harlequin romance. Too often the study of the Bible ends with these two steps.

Bible Study – Step Three Application

How Do We Apply Scripture to Our Daily Life?

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs sing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16. NASB.

As you read Colossians 3:16, do you wonder, “How do I make this part of Scripture relevant today?” When reading the Bible, it becomes relevant through the practice of application.

This verse has three specific applications of Christ’s word dwelling in our life today. The first two aspects are joined: teaching and admonition. Christ’s words instruct us, which is teaching. At the same time Christ’s can show us where we have gone wrong. His word gives us guidance on how to correct mistakes in what we believe and what we do.
